The Osama bin Laden photos are alleged to be too graphic and too shocking to be released to the global public. On May 12, 2011, the CIA has slowly begun showing them to a select audience - the U.S. lawmakers. Senators in Washington have had exposure to images that have been described as "pretty gruesome".

But besides the U.S. lawmakers, the rest of America and, most importantly, the rest of the world are eagerly awaiting the release of these images. So far, the argument of the Obama administration against their release is the fear of outrage in the Middle East and repercussions in the form of attacks on troops. Furthermore, any graphic or demeaning images of bin Laden could be used as a propaganda tool against Washington.

Amidst all that are reports of the Judicial Watch as well as the Associated Press requesting a release of the photos alleged to depict a dead Bin Laden through the Freedom of Information Act.
