Voleur Portland Or

Voleur-CLOSED

Great little out-of-the-way spot. While everyone else is assaulting Kell's right around the corner, you can sit outside at Voleur, get an extremely tasty burger and a few cheap drinks. One of my favorite little hideaways in town.

Voleur Restaurant

Went to Voleur for Happy Hour on Friday night.

Ambience
The inside of the restaurant is a bit awkward (there's very little space in front of the bar, which is also a walkway, so if you stand there to order you end up in someone's way), but there are patio tables and benches outside. MAX trains go by every few minutes, but other than that, I thought it was surprisingly quiet for being on the corner of 1st & Ash.

Food
The spinach/feta cheese quesadilla was good, but it was served with corn and sour cream on the side, which made no sense to me.

French fries with habanero/berry ketchup were AWESOME. Love those fries.

Mac 'n cheese was good and stringy and creamy.

Chicken wrap was fresh and crisp, but a little bland.

Drinks
For all their infusions and hullabaloo, I found the drinks a bit boring. I had a "blueberry martini" which I thought was horribly miscategorized-- it was blueberry puree, blueberry vodka, and triple sec. That sounds more like a blueberry cosmo to me. It was incredibly sweet and I didn't care for it much.

My partner had the mango margarita, which I liked a bit better. It was fruity and refreshing without the sicky sweetness of the blueberry martini.

I also had a coke with their special vanilla-infused bourbon, which was yummy but not particularly exciting.

Cost
For seven drinks (two beers and five cocktails) and five snacks (two orders of fries, quesadilla, chicken wrap, and macaroni), the bill came to $57 before tip. Drinks and entrees were about $4 each during happy hour, although we ordered a couple things after 6pm so it was a bit more.

Overall
I'd give Voleur a B. Decent food, decent drinks, decent prices, nice atmosphere, but not particularly outstanding in any way. Definitely a cozy place for drinks after work, but not a place I would choose for a special occasion.
